These canvases are a good quality, economical option for students. The 5/8" thick stretcher bars are made of solid pawlonia wood, a light and sturdy softwood from north Asian forests that resists warping. Sold in packs of two.

Compare the front and back photos of each canvas. Note the attachment of the canvas and the thickness of stretchers. Academic canvas is side stapled, an economical choice for student work, but one that limits future options for restretching, conservation, and framing.
